A Post From Page 77
Following the lead of M.C. Howe at Pensive Sarcasm, I'm posting a tiny bit of Tainted Souls here. The rules are you go to page 77 of your ms., count down seven lines, then post the following seven lines. Note: this is not the most riveting part of the novel! Here goes:
After Maria dropped out of school the following autumn, Frost arranged a job for her at a local hardware store. She quit after two weeks. He called a few times after that but never reached her. He could have driven to la zona to see her but never did.
Frost's call to her on the ride back from Peacock was his first in well over a year. Maria's mother, Candelaria, told him she didn't know where her daughter was. Maria was often in and out these days.

Good Review at Goodreads
TAINTED SOULS is off to a good rating at Goodreads, with a 4.5 rating, though the math is a little funny, seeing as it's based on two reviews, but there's only one review, though the reviewer may have given it two different ratings. Got that? Anyway, the reviewer liked it, and that's what counts, right?

Do We Write Books, or Do They Write Themselves?
I'm guest-blogging on the above topic over at Misha Gericke's blog My First Book. Thanks for giving me a soapbox, Misha!

Another Five-Star Review for Tainted Souls
It's always nice to wake up to another great review, describing Tainted Souls' "many twists and turns that keep you wondering," which you can find here at Amazon (or click on the "Reviews" page). On a cloudy, gray, cold day in Seattle -- I know you're asking, "Is there any other kind of day in Seattle?" but the answer to that is a definite "Yes," at least most years -- it's a great pick-me-up to go along with my Starbuck's instant decaf (coffee maker has been broken since before Christmas).
